Ɔkwán means (born) on the road and is a name native to the Akan in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. The name came about after our owner received results of a DNA ancestry kit with a considerably high percentage of African ancestry and more than 1/3 from the Ghana/Ivory Coast region. Our owner has visited 3 of Africa's 54 nations and has relationships with people in 5 additional countries. Her love for the people and lifestyle of those in the Motherland is what birthed this company.
Our products are handmade here in America or imported from various countries on the continent of Africa, such as Malawi, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Burkina Faso. The imported products are all from members and companies active with the Fair Trade Federation, ensuring quality work and pay.
It is our goal to keep you consciously fashionable and connected with the Motherland while supporting those back "home", so shop with us as we bring you authentic products inspired by and imported from the Motherland with love.
